JULY 29 “INTIMACY THROUGH OBEDIENCE TO GOD”

Obedience to God is simply keeping His commandments and, according to Apostle John in 1 John 5:3 ……” His commandments are not burdensome.” Obviously, anyone in an intimate relationship will not want to put a burden on the one he is intimate with. God wants the best for us, so He gave us laws to guide our lives and help us set boundaries by way of His commandments. These laws, when we sincerely follow them are for our own good. He is so passionate about us living right so that we can have a close, loving and intimate relationship with Him. What prevents our intimacy with God is when we violate His commandments.

Intimacy with God through obedience makes us to actively, constantly and intentionally choose to follow His commandments. This helps us to develop a close and intimate relationship with Him. We cannot relate intimately with our Father and not do the same with one another. I John 5:2  says, “By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments.” The evidence that we love one another is visible when we show our love for God by keeping His commandments.

To be intimate with God through obedience, you need to develop the desire to know Him more, trust His guidance, know and understand His character and will and aim at being like Him. You also need to align yourself with His purpose. A life lived in intimacy with God through obedience has a sense of fulfillment and radiates His joy.

PRAYER: Father, it is my desire to show my love to You and other believers in Christ through obedience to Your commandments. Help me to live this out in Jesus’ name, Amen.
