Topic: DOING GOOD TO ALL – Doing Good to All, Especially Those of the Household of Faith
Text: 1 John 3:17-18, Romans 12:10.
Memory Verse: Galatians 6:10 (NKJV): “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.”
As followers of Christ, we are called to do good to all people, but especially to those who belong to the family of believers. We are called to love one another and to show that love through our actions. 1 John 3:17-18 reminds us that if we see a brother or sister in need and have the means to help them, we should not turn a blind eye. We are called to have pity on them and to show the love of God through our actions. This means that we are not just called to love with words, but also in truth, with our actions. Romans 12:10 also reminds us to be devoted to one another in love and to honour one another above ourselves. We are called to put the needs of others before our own and to love our brothers and sisters in Christ as Christ has loved us.
Currently, in Nigeria, it is important that we remember to do good to all, especially to those of the household of faith. We can do this by praying for one another, encouraging one another, and meeting the physical and material needs of those who are struggling. By showing love and compassion to our brothers and sisters in Christ, we can be a witness to the world of the love of God. Let us strive to be people who do good to all, especially to those of the household of faith. Let us love one another deeply through our actions and in truth, putting the needs of others before our own.
Prayer: God, we are grateful for the gift of community and the family of believers. Please help us love one another as you have loved us and show compassion and kindness to those who are struggling, especially those in the household of faith. We pray for Nigeria’s provision and peace and ask to be your hands and feet, revealing your love to those around us. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
