TOPIC: “SERVING OTHERS IN GOD’S PLAN”
TEXT: Romans 15:25-33
MEMORY VERSE: “But now I am going to Jerusalem to minister to the saints” – Romans 15:25.
As believers in Christ, part of our walk in alignment with God’s purpose is to serve or minister to other people around us. In our devotional text for today, Apostle Paul was driven by a passion to minister to other people who are also in God’s plan. Apostle Paul was on a mission to deliver a generous gift from the Gentile churches to the poor believers in Jerusalem, thus, demonstrating how concerned and loving the church should be to one another in God’s Kingdom service.
Paul’s example here is a challenge to all believers to prioritize serving other people around us. Are you willing to give your time, talent, gifts, and resources to support those who are desperately in need of them? Are you willing to put other people first in your life, just as Christ has put us first? Notice that Paul didn’t make the collections for his own pocket. It was rather for the sake of the poor brethren in Jerusalem. We have seen in some cases where monies meant for missions, missionaries and the needy, ended up in someone’s pocket without any form of accountability.
As we serve other people around us, we do not only meet their physical needs, but we also reflect the love and character of God to a people in need. Our service therefore, becomes an act of worship and a demonstration of our gratitude for the blessings we have received from God.
Beloved, the Lord will bless you more if you prioritize serving others in need. If you invest some of your resources, time and talent for the support of those in need of them, the blessings of God will be let loose upon you boundlessly.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, give me a heart for the needy and helpless around me in Jesus’ name, Amen.
