MARCH 6: DISCERNING GOD’S VOICE

Jesus Christ gave a vivid illustration of those who walk in alignment with Him as those who recognize and acknowledge Him as their Shepherd, and they possess the ability to hear and discern His voice. The Psalmist understood this aspect of God as his Shepherd therefore, he was willing to allow God to lead him through thick and thin. Jesus describe Himself as the good Shepherd who provides, leads, protect and ultimately laid down His life for the sheep hence, the sheep is obliged to follow His leading by being able to discern His voice from the deceptive voice of a stranger.

Is Jesus the Shepherd of your soul? Will you allow Him to lead you wherever He chooses to lead you and however He chooses? There are many voices beckoning on us demanding our attention and if we are not careful, or stay long enough, or walk with God daily, we will not be able discern the voice of our Shepherd. Walking in alignment with God calls for ability to discern His voice because how can you walk with someone whom you cannot relate with or hear speak to you?

As you desire to walk in alignment with God, you need to discover how to discern God’s voice amidst several other voices. The easiest way is by having constant fellowship with Him through His word and through prayer. God does not say anything outside His word. Although there are other ways God speaks to us however, they must all align with His word. He can choose to speak to you through dreams and visions, inner witness, inner peace, inner voice and through others as a confirmation of what He told you already. He is not an author of confusion; He speaks in such a way that you will know that He is the one speaking. Train yourself to hear His voice so that you will not mistake His voice for another.

PRAYER: Father, please give me the spirit of discernment, so that I can clearly recognize your voice in Jesus’ name, Amen.
