Topic: “THE LABOUR OF GOD’S LOVE- 2”
Text: Romans 5:6-8
Memory Verse: 1 John 3:16- “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.”
The power of God’s love is unimaginable. It is one dimension that blows any human’s mind. It is demonstrated at just the right time. Apostle Paul from today’s text exclaims that the power came through at the nick of time. The joy of being helped or provided for at the very point of need is one that leaves a beautiful memory. Let’s examine some characteristics of the power of this Love of God.
One, it came at the right time. God’s love never comes late. It was demonstrated at the most important time. The power of any thing is measured by its efficacy especially when it is found to be potent or effective at the peak of its work. The Love of God came through for man at the point of his deepest need. If God did that at salvation, how much less for our everyday life. God’s love will never be late. The power of God’s love can be trusted never to fail.
Two, it came when we were still sinners. The most critical time in the life of the fallen man was the time of offence, when he was separated from God as a result of sin. He was under a curse. Man was helpless and by himself with no God, no helper and no advocate. It was in this state that God demonstrated his love. The power of his love gave man a second chance at life. The sacrificial Lamb was slain, and man’s sins were atoned for. The power of God’s love gave back to man, an unrestricted access to God. This was demonstrated by cutting into two, the curtain that divides the Holy place from the most Holy Place in the temple from top to bottom.
The power of God’s love is still active till today. May it show up for you at the nick of time and bring you into deeper intimacy with God.
PRAYER: Father, help me to respond to the call of your love today. Take me into a deeper experience of love for you in Jesus’ name.
