Topic: PRAISE BUILDS INTIMACY WITH GOD
Text: Psalm 34:1 – 4
Memory Verse: “I will bless the Lord at all times, his praise shall continually be in my mouth.” Psalm 34:1
The Lord himself testified about David the king saying, “ I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfill all my will.” Acts 13:22. A critical look at the life of David reveals that he was a man who delighted in praising the Lord. He appreciated the goodness and faithfulness of God, thus he continually sang praises to Him.
In our text today, he testified that he would bless the Lord at all times in whatever circumstances, good or bad, because he trusted in the faithfulness of the Lord. He went further to say that God’s praise ‘shall continually be in my mouth’ to reaffirm David’s commitment to worshipping the Lord. David in all his travails never stopped praising the Lord. He continually rejoiced in the presence of the Lord such that on the day the Ark of Covenant was being taken to the Tabernacle in the city of David he rejoiced in the presence of the Lord and danced with all his might. His wife Michal, Saul’s daughter despised him but David said “ it was before the Lord, which chose me … to appoint me ruler over his people … therefore, will I play before the Lord.”
He didn’t mind being ridiculed and was not ashamed to rejoice in the Presence of the Lord. No wonder God testified of David, that he was a man after His heart.
Purpose in your heart to ignore anybody looking at you when you worship or praise the Lord, concentrate only on His goodness and you will find that your closeness to God will improve.
Prayer:
Father in heaven, I will bless your name at all times. Fill me with the spirit of praise and worship that I may glorify you at all times in Jesus’ name. Amen.
