Topic: “THE DANGER OF INGRATITUDE – STRAINED RELATIONSHIPS”
Text: COLOSSIANS 3:15-17
Memory Verse: “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him” – Colossians 3:17.
Chorus: Give thanks with a grateful heart, Give thanks to the Holy One, Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ, His Son
When a person fails to show gratitude for mercies and favors received, it can lead to the frustration of other parties who wonder what else they would need to do to please their partners. Gratitude reinforces love and trust and the lack of it creates a sense of betrayal.
In a marriage relationship, couples learn the importance of saying “Thank you” when the spouse has done something good for him/her or the family. Those words go a long way to demonstrate love and value for work done or actions taken by the spouse.
None of us is deserving of all the goodness, favor and mercies that we receive from God. As Children of God, we should demonstrate Christ’s love in our hearts by being thankful to God and appreciating other people’s contributions to our growth and development.
As today’s text admonishes, when the Word of the Lord dwells in a believer’s heart, it will provoke praises, thanksgiving and appreciation for other persons whom God had used to bless or aid our growth.
PRAYER: Lord, help me to praise you and appreciate other people that you have placed on my path to help my growth. May I never take your grace for granted in Jesus’ name, Amen.
