Topic: “OVERCOMING INGRATITUDE”
Text: MALACHI 3:6-7
Memory Verse: “Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?” – Malachi 3:7.
Chorus: Create in me a clean heart o Lord, and renew a right spirit within me.
Like we saw in Luke 17:17, the stranger (Samaritan) returned to the Lord. This is the first step in overcoming ingratitude. Individuals must return to the Lord in repentance and seek forgiveness. The Lord promises in Malachi 3:7 that if there is a genuine repentance, God will forgive the individual’s sins and empower him to start a new life.
A bad habit can be difficult, if not impossible to change by an individual. Experience has shown that human efforts only will fail. With a repentant heart and forgiveness by the Lord, Jesus, The Holy Spirit will regenerate the soul and empower such individuals to start afresh, and success is guaranteed.
The Scripture says in 1 John 1:7-8 that “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”
Acknowledging one’s sins and seeking forgiveness is the right and necessary step to end a life of ingratitude and turn a new leaf. Are you ready?
PRAYER: Father, I repent of all acts of ingratitude and seek your forgiveness. Please create a new heart in me to serve you, Amen.
