Topic: HONOURING GOD IN THANKSGIVING – THE GREAT PHYSICIAN
Text: 2 Matthew 9: 18 – 22
Memory Verse: Jesus turned, and seeing her he said, “Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you well” Matthew 9:22.
The problem of sickness has been with humanity for a long time. With the coming of sin into the world, the covering that God gave to man was no more. Since then, man has been using part of his God-given wealth to keep himself in good health. When the body is sick, the spirit is also affected. When man is healthy, he dabbles into many things including his services to God.
In our text, Jesus Christ, the Great Physician healed a woman who had been sick for twelve years. A greater part of her resources must have been spent searching for healing. She must have gone to various healing houses without any results. The Holy Spirit led her to Jesus, believing that touching the hem of Christ’s apparel would make her whole. In doing so, she received her healing, Christ then made it clear to her that faith, not superstition made her whole.
Is anyone battling with an aliment? Has anyone been visiting various healing houses? Have you exhausted your resources searching for healing? In faith, rise up and come to Jesus Christ, the Great Physician. He is still in the business of healing; if you cannot touch Him, He will touch you and you will be made whole. Elder John in his letter in 3 John 2 writes, “Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in health.” This is God’s prayer for us. He wants us to be in good health. Let us in faith come to Him. “The Great Physician now is near. The sympathizing Jesus…” He will heal both physical ailments as well as spiritual ailments. Therefore, to Him shall honour in thanksgiving be in Jesus’ name.
Prayer: My dear heavenly Father, I am grateful for keeping me in good health. Grant me grace to live for you in thanksgiving to the glory of your Holy name. Amen.
