Topic: “THANKING GOD THROUGH PRAISE ”
Text: PSALM 150
Memory Verse: “Psalm 150:6 – “Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord praise ye the Lord”.
The great truth of our faith can be expressed in very simple terms such as “God is love” or “Christ died for our sins and rose again” they can also be expressed in various ways that speak about the greatness of our God and how He loves us. In the end, however, the truth about our infinite God is beyond human understanding and expression. In Romans 11:33 Paul said, How unsearchable are His judgements and His ways past finding out. Sometimes, all we can do is praise our God for His greatness with our words and with our songs.
Praise is a form of thanksgiving. You can only praise God when you have a heart of thanksgiving. The psalmist in verses 3 to 5 of our text today talks of using all kinds of instruments in praise and worship of our God. In our contemporary world, we use all types of instrument to praise and worship our God. We use hymns, choruses, cantatas, pianos, organs, guitars, trumpets, orchestras and every available form of music to convey our adoration of the God who alone has immortality. It is noteworthy that the book of Psalms concludes with this beautiful Psalm of praise. The Psalm ends with an admonition to every living thing to praise the Lord.
Our praise of the Almighty God can also be expressed through our dancing. In 2 Samuel 6: 16-23, we see David praising the Lord with his dancing unashamedly to the disgust of his wife Michal, daughter of Saul after the Ark of the Lord was brought from the house of Obed Edom into a place that David had prepared for it in the city of David. David at this time was thanking God by praising Him with serious dancing for His faithfulness to Him in choosing him to be king over Israel, also, for completing his joy by allowing him to bring the Ark to the city of David.
How do you praise the Almighty, Omnipotent God? What do you use to praise Him and thank Him?
PRAYER: Father, Lord, please grant me a heart that will always praise and thank you with all my being every day of my life, Amen.
