NOVEMBER 1: “THANKING GOD FOR HIS LOVE”

NOVEMBER 1, 2024

Topic: “THANKING GOD FOR HIS LOVE

Text: 1 JOHN 3:1-5

Memory Verse: “1 John 3:1 – “Behold what manner of love the father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not because it knows him not”.

There are generally two types of love. One is “filial” love. This is the type of love between a parent and a child. It is a diverse type of love. The second type of love is called Agape love. This is the divine type of love. The type of love that God has for us human beings. When God created Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, He loved them so much that He put them in charge of all his creation. Whatever Adam called anything created by God became the name for such a thing. God loved Adam and Eve so much that every day at sun down, in the cool of the day, God came down to play with them in the garden.

However, through the devilish schemes of Satan. Adam and Eve disobeyed God and fell from His love. They became separated from God and became susceptible to eternal damnation and death. All human beings that were born thereafter became susceptible to eternal damnation and death since we all inherited the Adamic nature of sin. Thereafter came the era of propitiation of sins through sacrifices made by the shedding of the blood of goats, bullocks, rams etc.

Subsequently God in His wonderful love for His creation decided by Himself to provide a once and for all, atonement sacrifice for sins by sacrificing his only begotten son. 1 John 2:1-2 says, And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the father and with His son Jesus Christ the righteous and he is the propitiation for our sins and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

Now can you imagine if you had to be buying cows, goats and rams for sacrifices any time you commit a sin. The question now is that should you not give thanks to the Almighty father for making such a provision for you?

How do you intend to give thanks to God for His wonderful love for you and for making the atoning death of Jesus a “once and for all” propitiation for sins?

PRAYER: My father and my God, please give me the grace to appreciate your love for me and for sending your son Jesus Christ to die for my sin, Amen.
