OCTOBER 08: “COURAGE TO LEAD”

DATE: Thursday 08  October  2026

TOPIC:  “COURAGE TO LEAD”

TEXT: Joshua 1:6-9

MEMORY VERSE:  “Be strong and very courageous. Obey all the laws Moses gave you. Do not turn away from them, and you will be successful in everything you do.” – Joshua 1:7 (NLT)

Leaders who have led long enough understand the necessity of courage in leadership. Have you ever imagined what it means to lose “Moses” and then be left alone to lead such people as the Israelites? Joshua had to lead people into unfamiliar territory while facing opposition and uncertainty. God’s command to Joshua was repeatedly, “Be strong and courageous.” His courage was rooted not in self-confidence, but in God’s presence and Word.

Leadership requires courage because alignment often requires difficult decisions. Courage is not the absence of fear; it is the decision to obey God despite fear. Sometimes, courage means confronting wrongdoing. Sometimes it means making an unpopular decision. Sometimes, it means starting again after failure. At other times, it means refusing to follow the crowd.

What would courage mean for you right now in your life? Where do you need to obey God despite your fear? What difficult personal, family, business, or leadership decisions have you been avoiding because of fear?

PRAYER: Lord, give me courage to do what is right, even when it is difficult or unpopular. Let Your presence be my confidence in the name of Jesus, Amen.
