OCTOBER 22: “GOD THINKS ABOUT YOU”

The Prophet, Jeremiah wrote to the Israelite captives in Babylon then, to move on with their lives and to pray for the pagan nation that enslaved them. This does not look like a reasonable instruction from a prophet of God. Why would anyone wish a country well which has enslaved him and even pray for them? Certainly, this does not align with our natural vengeful inclination; it is not what we would normally do. However, the Prophet was speaking from the place of knowledge of what God had said and what God had in mind to do for His people even in their captivity.

Though they were in an unpalatable situation, yet it was not going to be the end of the road for them. Life was not going to grind to a halt during that trouble time for them, so the Lord was asking them to adjust and keep moving because He had them covered. The all-knowing God had His beautiful plans for their future and in His thoughts; their current captivity was not going to stand in His way since He is also all-powerful and can reverse any situation no matter how ugly and long it may have been. God had good plans for Israel and wanted them to trust Him and simply relax in His everlasting arms and allow His thoughts for them to come through.

In God is our hope and His great thoughts concerning us are the anchor for our hope. No matter what is currently going on in your life, no matter where you are and how bleak the future may look, be assured of your wellbeing because God is thinking of you and in His thoughts are His wonderful plans for you. So note that your current state is not the end of the road for you. The God who loves you has your back fully covered.
