OCTOBER 29: “GOD’S LOVE RELEASES BLESSINGS”

When God’s people realize their failures and truly return in repentance to God, they touch a soft spot in God that opens them to the fountain of His love. Hosea called wayward Israel to repentance in vs 1-3 of our text, and then proclaimed the blessings that would follow their return. These included (as seen in vs 4-8) restoration, prosperity, unfettered love, revoking God’s wrath against them, divine strengthening, fame, and grace to attract the favour of all people far and near.

When God lifts His countenance upon you, the heavens open to pour out His blessings upon you. You make this happen when you turn to Him and put away your “idols” which hold your attention, and make you look away from Him. When your will is weak, your thinking is confused, and your conscience is burdened with a load of guilt, remember that God truly loves you and has His hands spread open to bring you back to Himself. His compassion never fails even when you run away from Him.

When because of the load of your guilt you cannot seem to hear the voice of God and when you lack courage to go on in life because others have forsaken you or misunderstood you, remember that God’s compassionate love is always available for you. God’s inexhaustible treasures are available to us as many as would come into His love. Name anything you consider a blessing, you can have it as you make your ways right with God – if He gave you His son, He will also give you any other thing (Romans 8:32).

PRAYER: Go ahead and seek first the kingdom of God in prayer and prepare to receive these other things from the Lord.
