Topic: “LOVE GREATER THAN WE KNOW”
Text: Jeremiah 17:9-10
Memory Verse: “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?” – Jer. 17:9.
This passage above in Jeremiah may not immediately jump out to anyone as a representation of God’s mercy or love. Jeremiah describes our human heart as “sick” and “deceitful”. These are not good conditions of the heart. God is perfect and true and does desire for us to be in same condition as He is at all times. Whether we feel the sickness of our heart, know the deceitfulness of it or not, the God who created us and who knows us much deeper than we know ourselves has seen our hearts’ condition and described it as sick and deceitful and He can never be wrong.
If you would be true to yourself, you will testify to the fact that many times, you feel things in your heart that you are ashamed to be identified with and you think in ways you do not wish to or have some thoughts and imaginations you should not. The worst part is that you are not able to explain why this is happening to you – it is like a mystery to you. You therefore have a need that only God can take care of. It is this deep loving knowledge of us that moved Him to take the loving step He took for our redemption.
By accepting His gift of salvation, God takes care of these goings-on in your heart, frees you from them and gives you His kind of heart to transform you. Through your relationship with Jesus, you enjoy a revelation of dimensions of yourself that you could never know as you dig deep into Him. See Isaiah 6:1-5.
PRAYER: God, I bask in your knowledge of me and receive deeper revelations of you and of myself to help me operate at the spiritual frequency you desire for me, Amen.
