Topic: “BUILDING INTIMACY WITH GOD THROUGH MEDITATION”

Text: Genesis 25:62-67

Memory Verse: Genesis 25:63 – “And Isaac went out to meditate in the field in the evening”.

Our text gave us the secret of Isaac’s life as a man of intimate relationships. Isaac was close to the heart of his father, Abraham and our memory verse for today shows us that he is a man of contemplation. At this point in his life, he knew that His father had arranged to get him a wife, and the servants had gone for weeks, if not months in search of a wife for him.

Isaac showed us what we need to do while waiting for an answer from the father. Instead of spending his time and energy worrying about the outcome of the trip for which he had no control, we are told that he took to the field in the evening to meditate.

This story gives us two key essentials to a productive meditation; these are (a) Time and (b) Place. We are told the place of his meditation is the field, and the time of meditation is evening.

Therefore, you must have a place and time for your own meditation if you want to develop intimate relationship with God.
The key factor in choosing time and place is quietness and less distraction.

PRAYER: Lord, help me with a time and place to be alone with you in contemplation of your wonders, Amen.
