Topic: “DELIVERANCE FROM THE GUILT OF SIN”
Text: Colossians 2:13-15
Memory Verse: “Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it” – Col. 2:15.
Recently, a boy who is still very young in faith called me and said “Pastor, I have an overwhelming problem. Though I am born again, the guilt of the sins I have committed before I met Christ keep hunting me and weighing me down from progressing in my spiritual life.” One of the age-long strategies of the devil is to keep loading the hearts of believers, most especially the babes in Christ with the guilt of their past sins before they met Christ. This is one of the greatest deceptions of the devil.
The Bible says: Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17. The moment a person becomes born again, all his past sins and iniquity are wiped off by the blood of Jesus and such a person becomes a brand-new man from the inside. The Spiritual reality of what happened at Salvation was that Christ blotted out the handwriting of the ordinances of sin that was against us and nailed it to the cross. He did not stop there, he also disarmed the powers and authorities and made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them at the cross. All these activities are carried out in the Spirit realm the moment a man becomes born again.
Friend, are you struggling under the guilt of past sin? Is the devil bombarding your heart with the thoughts of punishment? Don’t mind the devil, he is a liar and the father of all lies. If you are born again, all your past sins no matter how terrible and horrible they may have been have all been forgiven and blotted out. Make this confession.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, since you have set me free, I am indeed free. I silence every voice of accusation of the devil in Jesus’ name, Amen.
