Topic:  “BENEFITS OF CHRIST’S RESURRECTION POWER – LIVING HOPE”

Text: 1 Peter 1:3-5

Memory Verse: “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” 1 Pet 1:3 (NIV).

The death of Jesus on the cross was the full expression of God’s love towards us through which we have obtained mercy and grace. “But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.”  Rom 5:8

It is by the power of Christ’s resurrection that we have secured a living hope in the newness of life. Our new life further secures for us, the substance of our hope which is the glorious inheritance preserved for the saints (Eph 1:18-20). Such an inheritance does not suffer decay, cannot be corrupted, and is divinely preserved for us.

In our walk with God, Hope is such a critical matter as much as the subject of faith. It is not merely wishful thinking, but a firm conviction that because of what Christ has accomplished, my past, present and future are all secure in Him. It is also the confident assurance that because Jesus resurrected, I will also resurrect, just as He did.

“Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” Rom 5:5

In order to sustain this living hope and enjoy this inheritance, we need to maintain a constant and intimate walk with God, believing Him at every juncture, and being obedient to His word regardless of the circumstances around us. As we yield to Him every inch of our lives, He will continue to sustain us by the power of His might.

Friend, are you beginning to give up, or lose confidence in your faith and the future of your life? No matter the reality around you, if only you will look to Jesus and keep your gaze on Him, you will find in Him, sufficient strength and grace for a living hope.

PRAYER: Father, I thank you for the living hope that is anchored on the power of your resurrection. Cause me to rise above every debilitating situation that seeks to steal my joy and hope in Jesus’ name, Amen.
