Topic: “BENEFITS OF CHRIST’S RESURRECTION POWER – POWER TO PROCLAIM THE GOSPEL”
Text: Acts 1:3-9
Memory Verse: “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts1:8-9(NKJV).
When John the Baptist was carrying out his ministry, and Jesus Christ came to Him, he declared that he saw the Spirit descending from heaven upon Him like a Dove, evidencing that He is the Lamb of God that carries the sins of the World (John 1:29-34). This was going to form the fulcrum upon which the good news of the kingdom would later be propagated.
Jesus Himself declared thus:
“The Spirit of the Lord is on Me, because He has anointed Me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim liberty to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.” Luke 4:18-19
The proclamation of the Gospel is hinged on the manifest role and power of the Holy Spirit. To be effective witnesses for Christ, therefore, we need to be filled with His power. The disciples of Jesus knew very well of His resurrection power and became veritable witnesses thereof.
God desires that the whole world will come to know and experience the power of Christ’s resurrection (Matt 28:18-20). He commands that all who have experienced the power of His resurrection to go forth and proclaim the good news in the power of the Holy Ghost.
Jesus specifically commanded the disciples not to go anywhere until they have received power through the gift of the Holy Spirit. That is what made all the difference in their lives after Christ’s ascension, as they went about preaching the message of the Kingdom
“And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all.” (Acts 4:33).
Beloved, as you draw closer to God in an intimate walk with Him, you too can become an effective witness of His resurrection power.
PRAYER: Lord, please make me an effective witness of yours for the redemption of souls that are perishing, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
