APRIL 26 : “LESSONS FROM BOAZ”

DATE: Sunday 26 April  2026
TOPIC:  “LESSONS FROM BOAZ

TEXT: Ruth 3:10-18; 1 Thess. 2:9-12

MEMORY VERSE: Naomi said to her, “just be patient, my daughter… the man won’t rest until he has settled things today’’ – Ruth 3:18.

We also have a couple of things to learn from Boaz in the scheme of God’s plan. We saw that, he never rushed to take a decision, only aligning with God’s will (Ruth 3:12-13). Boaz taught us, what Paul exhorted in living a life of Christian integrity (1 Thess. 2:9-12 & 2 Cor. 11:9); he was honest, hardworking – remember he was on his farm “at night” (Ruth 3:2). He never took advantage of a young lady sleeping near him, when nobody knew (1 Thess. 4:3-6), deciding to do the right thing!

We learnt again, his life of honour, transparency (2 Cor. 8:21) attested to, by testimonies of Naomi, his workers and society (Ruth 2:1a), despite his influence and wealth. He was trustworthy, devoted to the course he believed in; the memory verse above was also a testimony from Naomi, showing that this man lived the life Jesus allegorically tagged “salt and light” (Matt 5:14-16). He simply was not one to give up! (2 Cor 4:1).

Lastly, he was deeply benevolent, remembering the poor, the needy (Ruth 2:14-18; 3:15-17), fulfilling God’s heart on religion that pleases Him (James 1:26-27). Why would Boaz do all these, we may ask? Paul admonished; and Boaz realized that God was watching (2 Cor 2:17)

PRAYER: Dear Lord, I know that running the Christian race requires endurance by grace. Help me, like that cloud of witnesses to look only to Jesus in this earthly pilgrimage, Amen.
