TOPIC: “HUMBLE YOURSELF”
TEXT: Philippians 2:5–8; 1 Peter 5:5–6, Proverbs 16:5
MEMORY VERSE: “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 2:5
Pride is often easier to see in others than in ourselves. It can hide beneath confidence, defensiveness, stubbornness, or the inability to admit wrong.
Pride may appear when:
you struggle to apologise
correction feels offensive
you always need to be right
you look down on others
you resist learning from anyone
God opposes pride because pride resists dependence on Him. However, He gives grace to the humble.
Humility is not weakness or self-hatred. Humility is strength under control. It is the willingness to learn, serve, listen and submit to God.
Jesus is our perfect example. Though great in power, He humbled Himself and served others. When God looks at you, He wants to see His son. One thing that can make you like His son is discipleship. Are you enrolled in one?
When you humble yourself before God, He lifts you in the right season and in the right way.
Today’s Reflection:
How do you usually respond when corrected or challenged?
Today’s Action:
Practice humility today, listen more, apologise quickly, or receive feedback calmly.
PRAYER: Lord, remove pride from my heart. Teach me the humility of Christ. Help me be teachable, gentle and willing to honour others above myself, Amen
