Topic: Experiencing the fullness of God through fulfilling your Calling
Text: Ephesians 1: 17-18
Memory Verse: Ephesians 1:18 “I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened so that you may know the hope to which he has called you….”
We live in a world where we all struggle with hopeless situations. Some have lost hope in people, in the government and in things they look up to restore hope. Paul in our text today, called the attention of the Ephesian believers to this great truth by reminding them that “I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened so that you may know the hope to which he has called you….”
Remember the saying that when purpose is unknown abuse is inevitable, so we do not fall into that error, Paul in his prayer emphasized the matter of hope. At that time, people were living in despair and discouragement, so he had to assure them of the Christian hope built on Christ, that no matter what is happing in the world, we, as believers will still make sense of it by fulfilling whatever God has planned for our lives. Are you feeling hopeless today? Be encouraged because no matter how downcast our soul is, David said in Psalm 42:11 “Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.” Henry Halley also said; “What is there, what can there be, to make life worthwhile, apart from the Christian hope?” It is this hope that will enable and energize us to fulfil our calling. Let the hope of Christ be like the magnet that draws you towards your goal.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you for reminding us today, that in you we have hope. Let this hope continue to strengthen us so we can fulfil your calling for our lives. No matter the difficulties or obstacles, our hope in you will always find the way, help us find the way today in Jesus’ name.
