Topic: Experiencing the fullness of God; leading to Continuous Growth
Text: Ephesians 1: 15- 17
Memory Verse: Ephesians 1: 17b –“May He give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.”
There is a purpose to everything that God does. The deposit of the fullness of God in us as believers was not for showoff or selfish gain. Max Lucado captures this succinctly when he said that “We exist to exhibit God, to display his glory. We serve as canvases for his brush stroke, paper for his pen, soil for his seeds, glimpses of his image.” The reason God went all the way to share His splendour and glory with us was ultimately exposed by Paul in today’s bible passage.
He said, “… may He give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.” To know him is one thing, to know him better is a different thing entirely. The word “know” in Greek is “Yada” which means to know a person intimately. Not just a surface knowledge but a deep knowledge of God. To know Him better, we have to do what James says in James 4: 8 “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” Getting to “know God is not a task for the lazy among us, it is a full-time job” says Karon Phillips. Therefore, whatever it will cost you to grow, you have to do it.
Prayer: Heavenly Father as we step out today, we do ask for grace to utilize all experiences that we pass through as instruments of growth, may we know you more, and may we love you more in Jesus’ name.
