Topic: HIS PROVISION

Text: Gen 22:1- 14

Memory Verse: “And Abraham said, my Son, God will provide himself a Lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together” Gen 22:8

God is inherently a Provider and has been in this business since creation. Without the provision of His breath, Adam would not have become a living soul {Gen 2:7). By the same token, in 1Cor 15:45, we understand that “The first man Adam was made a living soul; and the last Adam (Jesus Christ) was made a quickening spirit”.

The phrase “God will provide” in our text is one of the fundamental expressions of the gracious nature of our God in putting everything in place for us even before we knew it (Rom 5:8; Eph 1:3-6; 3:16; 1Pet 1:13-20). Every time we approach His throne of grace by asking, seeking or knocking (Luke11:9), we must come in full assurance that that which we are looking for is already amply provided by the One who has it all (Psalm 50:10-15; Isaiah 5:1-3; Phil 4:19). How gratifying it is to know that God has not only made provision, but is indeed delighted to provide for His own (Luke 12:32).

Just as doubtless it is that there is no human being without a need, even much more is the fact that there is nothing that any man will ever have need of that He cannot meet. God is never threatened, weakened, or perturbed by the extent of your need. He cannot be found in an “emergency ward” figuring out what next to do but knows exactly what to do with anyone in any situation (Matt 6:8). And so, the Writer of Hebrews stirs us up further in our hearts, to come boldly into His presence, the Throne of Grace, in order that we may find mercy and grace in every moment of need (Heb 4:16).

The immediacy of Abraham’s response in obedience is worthy of note in our text (vs 3). Sometimes God may be checking us in the place of our willingness and obedience in order to grant us access into His storehouse of abundance (Isa 1:19).

Prayer: Father, I thank you for always being there for me, and meeting me at every point of need. May your name be glorified.
