APRIL 1: UNDERSTANDING REDEMPTION

Topic: UNDERSTANDING REDEMPTION

Text: ROM. 6:23; COLOSSIANS 1:13-14

Memory Verse: Romans 6:23 – “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”.

The creation of man in God’s image and likeness was one of the most beautiful things in creation. It is interesting to know that none of God’s creation has the image of God except man. God made man in such a unique way because man occupies a prominent role in the fulfillment of God’s purpose and agenda on earth.

Unfortunately, the programme of God for man and his generation met with an accident because man fell into sin by eating the forbidden fruit that God had commanded them not to eat. This singular incident brought devastating and grievous consequences upon both the generation of man and God’s programme for creation. The major consequence being “death” because it is written, “the wages of sin is death” (Rom. 6:23). Death means eternal separation from God. Therefore, man was eternally separated from God and became a captive of sin and the devil.

Nevertheless, God in His love for man came down to earth in the person of Jesus Christ to deliver the generation of man from the captivity of devil. He paid a ransom for our freedom with His very life. In our text today, Paul the apostle by revelation saw what happened and renders it thus, “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins Colossians” 1:13-14. Therefore, God in Christ Jesus purchased our freedom and redeemed us from the penalty of sin (which is eternal death) through his precious blood.

Friend, If you have come under this redemptive plan, I congratulate you and charge you to continue to forge ahead in your salvation. However, if you are yet to come under this redemptive plan, today is your day of salvation. Bow your head and confess Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior.

PRAYER: Thank you Jesus for restoring me to yourself. I give you my life fully, use it for your purpose and praise in Jesus name.
