Topic: SALVATION BY GRACE
Text: EPHESIANS 2:8-9
Memory Verse: Eph 2:8 – “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God”.
The word “Salvation” means “to save, to rescue or to deliver”. Salvation is the priceless gift of God to humanity. It is the provision made by God to liberate the generation of man from the bondage of sin, death and Satan. It is equally God’s provision in Christ Jesus to restore the entire human race back to God’s original intention at creation before man fell.
God in the beginning created man in His image and likeness and charged him to have dominion over everything He has created. However, man fell into sin and forfeited all of God’s plan and purpose for him. Consequently, man became a slave to sin, death and Satan. For this reason, man needed salvation in order to fulfill the original purpose that God intended from the beginning of creation.
This Salvation cost God the life of His one and only begotten son Jesus Christ who died a painful, sacrificial and substitutionary death to purchase man back from the dungeon of Satan, sin and death. The provision of this salvation came by the exclusive act of God’s grace because the generation of man is totally helpless and incapable of saving himself. Even when he tries to, the bible says all our righteousness is a like a filthy rag. The amplified version of our text captures it all. “For it is by free grace (unmerited favor) that you are saved (delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ’s salvation) through your faith. And this salvation is not of yourselves (of your own doing, it came not through your own striving), but it is the gift of God” Eph. 2:8AMPC
Beloved, there is nothing you can do on your own to be saved. However, all you simply need to do is believe in the finished work of God through Jesus Christ on the cross and you shall be saved.
PRAYER: Lord, I embrace your salvation work at Calvary. I surrender everything to you. I belong to you; use me as you wish, Amen.
