Topic: CHRONICLES OF MEN THAT FELL FROM GRACE: ADAM AND EVE
Text: GENESIS 3:1-10
Memory Verse: – Gen 3:10 – “And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself”.
The first pages of the bible contain the highest privilege, opportunity and grace that God bestowed upon the first man, Adam. God created the earth and everything in it beautifully and made man to be the ruler of everything. This came by God’s act of grace. Man at creation was standing upon the pedestal of God’s manifold grace. It is however disheartening that man could not sustain the platform of grace given to him by God. He fell from grace when he fell into sin.
It is important to note that God’s intrinsic nature is holiness (Hebrews 12:14b). When God instructed Adam and Eve, He permitted them to eat from all the trees in the Garden of Eden, except from the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Unfortunately, the devil tempted them, and they ate from the forbidden tree. This act of disobedience led to their exit from the Garden of grace (Eden) that God had put them and caused several devastating havoc on the generation of man.
As believers, the lives of Adam and Eve taught us that every fall into sin is a fall from grace. Sin is the greatest enemy of God. A single act of disobedience today can lead to a great disaster in your life and the lives of generations after you. The good news however, is that God in his mercy has sent our Lord Jesus Christ to die for the remission of our sins and to reconcile us back to the father. Dearly beloved, has sin dethroned you from the pinnacle of God’s grace? Have you become a fugitive because of disobedience to God? You can retrace your steps back to the cross today and God will have mercy on you.
Commitment: Be careful about what you do or the steps you take because generations/destinies are attached to you.
PRAYER: Pray for the grace to always yield to God’s instructions for your life.
