Topic: “THE CAUSE OF THE CURSE”
Text: Genesis 9:20-22, 24-25 NKJV
Memory Verse: Genesis 9:25 “Then he said: “Cursed be Canaan; A servant of servants He shall be to his brethren.”
Noah and his sons placed before us a crucial lesson in life, that must be learnt for correct living. Noah had 3 sons who were going to continue the covenant of God over His people. At this instance, the young man did what he thought he had to do. This young man was so innocent, yet immature that he saw the nakedness of the father and exposed it. He could claim that he wanted his brothers to help sort out the issue. However, he could as well pick the cloth to cover the father up first!
One would wonder why Noah, planted, harvested, and with his own hands made wine, with his mouth, drank it, and undressed himself, in the day of his ease! Take note, yet, that this was not an excuse for Ham to have looked upon his father’s nakedness and to have exposed it to the brothers. The brothers, on the other hand, walked backwards, with their faces looking away, then covered the nakedness of the father.
As God’s people, we have principles that guide our practices. Are you consciously following the principles of living the Christian life? There are older believers with whom we have issues, often times, we do more of exposing them than covering them up. We need to return to that path, where fathers and mothers who went ahead of us did not drag the name of those who had gone ahead of them in the mud, even for a good reason. By so doing, you will have no cause to be cursed!
PRAYER: Dear Lord, fill my heart with wisdom to deal with issues as it relates to those who fail or fall around me. Help me
