Topic: “THE REWARD; A CURSE”
Text: Genesis 49:1-4 NKJV
Memory Verse: Genesis 49:1 “And Jacob called his sons and said, “Gather together, that I may tell you what shall befall you in the last days”.
Reuben, who was to be the right-hand man of the father, the pillar of his strength and the one to sustain the family, had messed up several years earlier and it was as if the father did not see what he was doing, not knowing that he only chose not to speak about it.
However, the time of reckoning eventually came. Jacob was about to be taken up to join his fathers, and he was going to make a final pronouncement on all the children, according to their ways and works. He mentioned Reuben first, and why he should have been blessed, but ended up being cursed! This was not a curse in the blood line, it was directly pronounced on him. His generation would also have to bear with the curse!
Beloved, do not play around sin lest you end up being cursed. God’s silence over your sin is not an approval. Though others cannot see all that you are doing in secret, God’s eyes are not so far or busy. He can see every detail of every disobedience to His laws and commandments.
Why not wake up and make your way right with Him right now and right where you are now, before the day of reckoning comes? Reuben was not permitted to repent at that point. He had to just receive the curse and live with it for the rest of his days. Today is the day of salvation, do not postpone it.
PRAYER: Lord, I do not want to receive a curse as the reward for life. I ask for grace to walk in the path of righteousness so that I will rather enjoy your blessings, Amen.
