TOPIC: “HEARTS ALIGNED IN SYMBIOTIC LOVE”
TEXT: Ruth 3:1-4; 1 Cor. 13:5-7
MEMORY VERSE: “…. love does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil…believes all things….” – 1 Cor. 13:5-7 – NKJV.
The loving relationship between Ruth, the Moabitess and Naomi, her mother-in-law, transcended race, prejudices tribal and religious cleavages and alliances, primordial sentiments and rancour seen in families these days.
The clear evidences of this love, that make the story of Ruth, accepted and included in scriptures as inspired text, shows the nature, depth and sacrifice our Lord expects from His children to Him as well as to others. In the text above (Ruth 3:1), note that the suggestion for a lasting family and home came from Naomi, whilst the suggestion to work, to fend for her mother-in-law, take care of her came from (Ruth 2:2), indicating hearts that were aligned, watching out for each other, seeking the good of the other (Phil 2:3-4), readily sacrificing for each other.
O believer, Jesus summarized the ten commandments into just two, to enable us to understand the righteous requirements of the law (Mark 12:28-34): to love the Lord implicitly, unconditionally, with every fibre of our being and to have symbiotic and mutual love for neighbours – Ruth and Naomi brought this home. Go and do same.
PRAYER: I cannot love unless You abide in me and I in You. Help my heart to align with Your love and words so that I can love my neighbour symbiotically, Amen.
