Topic:  “OUTCOMES OF INTIMACY IN THE CHURCH – PRAYERS I“

Text: Matthew 7:7-11

Memory Verse: “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The Spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Matthew 26:41

Scriptures highlight that prayer is a powerful means of building intimacy with God and other believers in the Church, leading to various outcomes such as increased understanding, strengthened relationships, and a transformed life. John 15: 4-8 & James 4:8 encourage drawing near to God through prayer, leading to a deeper connection and a more fruitful life. Prayers can address specific needs such as encouragement, understanding, forgiveness, and unity, ultimately strengthening bonds between the Children of God.

Praying together strengthens our faith, builds community, and points others to Jesus. It also makes for healthy interpersonal relationships as a powerful way to cultivate intimacy within the Church. It is a way to share burdens, lift each other, and demonstrate unity in Jesus Christ. Prayers as a result of intimacy in the Church result in having answers which lead to testimonies of God’s faithfulness shared from the congregation of believers and this spurs other believers to lift us their eyes unto the Lord as written in Psalms 121: 1-2 “I will lift up my eyes to the hills – From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.”

Answered prayers can be a powerful outcome of a deepened intimacy with God, especially within a Church setting. When we develop a strong, personal relationship with God, our prayers are more likely to be heard and answered. This intimacy is cultivated through consistent prayer, seeking God in His word and engaging in a two-way conversation with Him.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, thank you for your presence in our midst. We pray that your presence will continue to thrive through your Holy Spirit in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.
