Topic: MAKE ROOM FOR GOD: LIFT UP YOUR HEADS II
Text: Reading: : PSALM 24: 7-10
Memory Verse: “Psalm 3:3 – “But Thou, O Lord, at a shield for me; my glory; and the lifter up of my head”.
The Psalmist recognizes the source of his help just as we Christians ought to! He knows that the Lord is his defence and through whom he is able to receive victory over the overwhelming circumstances of life by God lifting up his head above all situations! In Psalm 121: 1-2, 7-8; David asked a rhetorical question of where his help is coming from and he gave an immediate answer that was unambiguous, that his help comes from the Lord. He further made clear, the benefit of receiving this help from the Lord which when he lifted up his head and focusing, that the Lord would preserve from all evil and preserve the soul for evermore.
David recognizes that God delivers him from being consumed with himself and with his many troubles, worries, delay, denials, rejection and rebuffs. He recognizes that God puts faith in him so he can look up to God Elohim, so he can see the omnipotent God and turn away from his despondencies and his defeats.
Christ the King of Glory lifts us up from pre-occupation with our selves so that we can see who He is and so that we can focus on His eternal purpose and therefore fulfil destiny. This is the essence of why we were created and why we have breath still in us. When we lift up our heads to Him, we quickly see the reason for our circumstances, who we truly are and the meaning of what we are experiencing or going through. We know whose we are and He allows us a glimpse of His presence in our lives in accordance with His promises and given word.
Remember, we serve an awesome and mighty God, so great He cannot be discountenanced even by the greatest critics. He is so great He cannot fit under us or be subsumed in our circumstances. When we invite Him and make room for God, He comes into us and takes charge of our circumstances to relieve and reassure us.
What are the circumstances of life that are currently mitigating against your fulness of joy and progress in life? Consider and invite Him today. Be specific and mention them before the Lord. He will answer.
PRAYERS:
Lord almighty, come afresh into my situation. I cannot handle these by my wisdom or strength. I have come to my wits end. I leave it to you and I allow you to take charge now. Send help and relief in Jesus Name. Amen.
