Topic: “CONTEMPLATION”
Text: HEBREWS 12:2
Memory Verse: “Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God” – Hebrews 12:2.
Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. In life, whatever commands our attention, takes on significance. If we focus on that thing, issue, or point of view enough, we magnify it. So, if we look at Jesus, spend time in the Word of God, obey it, our lives will experience positive change.
Contemplation of God makes us desire more of Him. We discover His words are true, we admire Him more and want to be more like Him. What is there to see when we look at Jesus? We see His claims, that He and the Father are One. We learn of His unusual birth, we ponder His humanity and His Divinity. We sit quietly, to be taught by His teachings, His miracles, His ways. There is much to see if we look, there is much to emulate, if we choose to follow Him.
So, Beloved, today, let us just look to Jesus, not for anything, just for who He is. He is the One who started with us, who is seated at the right hand of the Father now and He will be there at the end of this earthly life. As we do today’s mundane and repetitive tasks, let us give ourselves the luxury of looking to the Son of God. He is ever present and looking toward Him will cause our faces to shine brightly.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, help us to look for more of you in your dear Son. May we know you better daily in Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
