DECEMBER 05: “AT THE CROSS”

At the Cross, at the Cross ,where I first saw the light, And the burden of my heart rolled away, It was there by faith, I received my sight, and now I am happy all the day (Hymn by Ralph Hudson and Isaac Watts).

Indeed, it is at the cross that you and I start seeing life as it truly is. At the crossroads of Heaven and Earth, where Jesus Christ (seemingly just a man) died on a cross. He was born in uneventful circumstances (seemingly), son of a carpenter, (seemingly) some two thousand years ago in an insignificant place (seemingly). His (seemingly) outlandish claims sounded like heresy, so they put Him to death.

Little did those who instigated His death know that this was no ordinary man. In this (seemingly) ordinary moment the sky darkened, the curtain separating the Holy of Holies from the tabernacle split. History was made that day. A way was made for us, mere created beings, to fellowship with God directly. What a day!

Something unprecedented and unrivaled happened. Jesus, God Incarnate died for you and me, to save us from Satan’s death grip. How can our minds fathom such a thing? Yet, it happened. A spectacular display of Kingdom Power, a wordless but life changing event that left us fit for Heaven. How often do we celebrate our salvation? We should, it is worth celebrating!

PRAYER: Father in Heaven, Thank you for the gift of Salvation.  I am forever grateful in Jesus’ name, Amen.
