Topic: “LOVE BECAME FLESH: TO BREAK THE CURSE”
Text: GALATIS 3: 1-13
Memory Verse: Galatians 3:13 “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.”
Ever heard the expression, “Curiosity killed the cat?” God warned Adam and Eve in Genesis 2:17 not to eat the fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of good and evil. However, curiosity led them to eventually eat off the trees, and right from that day, humanity came under a curse.
The curse removed the man from the garden and rendered him homeless and without peace and joy in life. To be able to free humanity from the curse, Jesus had to do something, which is captured in what Isaiah said in 53:4-6, “Surely, he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that made us whole, and with his stripes, we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his way, and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.”
Jesus became the curse. He redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole”. How should we respond to this love of God? It is by yielding our lives to Him, giving Him the prime place in our lives. As you go out today, remember you are no longer under any curse, because Jesus became the curse, so that you can become the consecrated.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, we thank you for the grace to know that you became a curse so you can remove us from under the weight of inherited curses. Help us never to put ourselves under any bondage or curse again in Jesus’ name, Amen
