Topic: “LOVE BECAME FLESH: TO BE OUR EXAMPLE”
Text: JOHN 13:1-15
Memory Verse: John 13:15 “I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.”
Paul in 1 Cor. 11:1 said, “Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.” Jesus’ life was a life of purity, power, and purposefulness. His life became the model upon which every other life is supposed to take a cue. Jesus’ life, therefore, shows us the way back to our Heavenly Father.
Furthermore, when we read 1 Cor.5:21 says “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” Jesus lived in such a way that sin had no place in his life, His life became an example to follow if we are to live a life free of sin.
Jesus is also the perfect example of love. In His life on earth, He cared for the poor, He healed the blind (see John 9:1–7), He welcomed little children (see Matthew 19:13–14), and He even forgave those who crucified Him (see Luke 23:34). His love is endless and available to any who needs it.
Beloved, as you step out today, let your life also be an example that people can follow, a life that they can emulate and replicate to the glory of God. When you live in such a way that others are looking up to you, your life at that point is to Jesus Christ, who is the express image of God the Father.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, as we step out today, may others see Jesus in us, may they hear Him in our speech, and may they experience Him through our lives in Jesus’ name, Amen.
