Topic: “LOVE BECAME FLESH: TO CARRY OUR SIN AND INIQUITIES
”
Text: : 1PETER 2: 21- 24
Memory Verse: 1Peter 2:24 “He carried our sins in His body on the cross [willingly offering Himself on it, as on an altar of sacrifice], so that we might die to sin [becoming immune from the penalty and power of sin] and live for righteousness; for by His wounds you [who believe] have been healed.”
Humanity inherited sin and as a result of the disobedience of Adam and Eve, Sin came into the world through one man, and his sin brought death with it. As a result, death has spread to the whole human race because everyone has sinned. (Rom.5:15).
The sacrifice of men, and their efforts could not atone for the sins of mankind. So God had to send His son born under the law, Gal. 4:4 says “But when the time had fully come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive our adoption as sons.…” Sin is any deviation from God’s perfect standards of righteousness.
In our text today, God made it clear, that “He carried our sins in His body on the cross [willingly offering Himself on it, as on an altar of sacrifice], so that we might die to sin [becoming immune from the penalty and power of sin] and live for righteousness; for by His wounds you [who believe] have been healed.” It was the love of God that moved and motivated Jesus to carry our sins so we could be free from the power and consequences of sin. Today, celebrate what Jesus did for you by carrying away our sins of lies, hatred, unforgiveness, backbiting, bitterness, anger, and unrighteousness. He took them ALL away.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank you for taking away the sins in our lives, help us from today to live a life free from sin and help us to live righteously daily in Jesus’ name, Amen.
