Topic: FOR THIS REASON I HAVE COME TO THE WORLD
Text: John 18: 28-37
Memory Verse: “Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen” 1 Timothy 1: 17
One of the accusations against Jesus was that they said He was a King. That was a head-on against an already ruling King Pilate and the Roman Empire. It meant rebellion and portended disloyalty to the ruling Emperor. Therefore, Pilate confronted Him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” Jesus eventually answered in the affirmative that indeed, that was He reason He was born. He also said He was born to testify to the truth, meaning He could deny that He was born a King.
The truth in this matter is that He was born to ascend to the throne of David according to God’s promise to David. Isaiah had said earlier that:
“Unto us a child is born.
And a son is given.
The government will rest on his shoulders.
He will be called:
Wonderful Counsellor,
Mighty God,
Everlasting Father,
Prince of Peace,
His government and its peace will never end”.
Yes, he was born to take our sins away.
He was born to destroy the line work of Satan.
He was born to show us the way.
Prayer: I crown you Lord of my life, and submit to your Lordship.
