Topic: THE BEAUTY OF HIS PRESENCE
Text: Psalm 84:10
Memory Verse: Ps 84:10 – “Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked”.
There is nothing in life as beautiful as carrying the abiding presence of God as believers. It is what makes a radical difference in the life of a believer and his Christian experience. It is what separates a giant from a dwarf in the kingdom; it is the distinguishing mark of all those who ever made huge differences in their generations. No man can do heroic exploits for God without carrying His presence.
David the greatest king of Israel became all he was on the pedestal of God’s presence.
He was one man in the Old Testament who made a notable mark in his generation. He fought several battles and conquered by God’s presence. His exploits in Israel were so heroic that the scriptures recognize his reign as a model for leadership. David became a generational reference point that scripture asserts at the end of His life that he served his generation according to the will of God. (Acts 13:36).
The whole chapter of Psalm 84 gives us an insight into the secret of David’s landslide success. David in this chapter expressed the beauty and blessedness of God’s presence.
He described how lovely the dwelling place of God was (is) and how his soul yearned and even fainted for God’s presence. It was such an exciting experience for David that he boldly declared in verse 10 that, “Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked”. It is therefore safe to conclude that the singular thing that adds beauty, honor, victory and all round success to David’s life was his passionate pursuit of God and His presence. Beloved, I must put it straight to you that no man can make any lasting mark for God in life, purpose, destiny and ministry without carrying the abiding presence of God. To this end, I want to suggest to you to make the pursuit of God your first priority and it will make all the difference in your life.
Prayer: O Lord, create a hunger in me that nothing else can satisfy except your presence in Jesus name. Amen.
