Topic: “BUILDING INTIMACY WITH GOD THROUGH MEDITATION: HE LEADS ME BESIDE THE STILL WATERS.”
Text: Psalm 23:1-6
Memory Verse: Psalm 23:2 “He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters”.
Nothing restores a weary and tired soul than the serene calm atmosphere of God’s presence. A reflective contemplation of God and His goodness is only possible in the atmosphere described in this Psalm.
The cares and worries of what to eat, what to wear, where to live and what to do may have driven a wedge into what should ordinarily be an intimate relationship with our Saviour.
Maybe you have become estranged from your Saviour, and He is no longer close to you like it was when you first gave your life to Him, it is time to allow Him to lead you beside the still water.
Here, beside the still waters of meditation, He will restore your soul, and lead you in the path of righteousness for His name’s sake. The word of Isaiah will “come to pass” in your life to the effect that “the work of righteousness will be peace and the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever” (Isaiah 30:17) in this season, you need to know that “in quietness and trust shall be your strength” (Isaiah 30:15b)
PRAYER: Can you meditatively pray the first stanza of the hymn “Abide with me” Abide with me fast fails the eventide. The darkness deepens, Lord with mw abide. When others helpers fail and comfort flee, Help of the helpless, O abide with me”, Amen.
