Topic: THE MANIFESTATION OF GOD’S PRESENCE: PASSION
OFGOD’S HEART
Text: Genesis 12:1- 10
Memory Verse: Genesis 12:7- “The LORD appeared to Abram and
said, “To your descendants, I will give this land.” So, he built an altar
there for the LORD who had appeared to him”.
The Lord God who has revealed Himself to us as creator and redeemer is a self-revealing God. He manifested His presence to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, by daily visiting them as recorded in Genesis 3:8, “Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day.”
Through sin, they lost the manifest presence of God, and since then, the Lord has extended opportunities to humankind so they can continue to experience this manifest presence. One such person whom the Lord gave the opportunity is Abram, as seen in our text today.
The manifest presence of God is always attached to a divine purpose. In the case of Abram, the Lord appeared to him to initiate the covenant relationship. As we go into this day, let us desire a covenant relationship with God. It is a relationship where God becomes intimate with humankind, and we equally become intimate with Him. Notice that Abram, yielded to the covenant relationship, without questioning without hesitation. He even went ahead to build an altar, as a pointer to him and to those around him that he is now in a relationship with Yahweh.
From Genesis to Revelation, the great passion of God’s heart, as He has revealed it to us is to dwell amid His people not just to dwell, but also to have a manifest presence among His people. That is why Matthew 18:20 says “Where two or three are gathered together’, Jesus said, ‘There am I in the midst.” Will you make room for God today in your heart, and in your home? Embrace His presence and enjoy His embrace.
Prayer: Our Father, we thank you that you love us so much that you are always pursuing a love relationship with us. Help us never to rebuff your show of love to us, help us like Abram to embrace your manifest presence daily in Jesus’ name.
