Topic: GOD’S PROMISE OFCOMPANIONSHIP II
Text: Isaiah 43:1-4
Memory Verse: “When you pass through the waters, I am with
you…when you walk through the fire you will not be burned…” – Isa 43:2.
Jesus’ use of the word “always” in Matthew 28:20 suggests all situations, all times, and everywhere. He promised to share our space, times, and our experiences. This is a confirmation of what the Lord had said to Israel through Prophet Isaiah as touching His visitation of them.
In our text for today, He mentioned their passing through fire and water these represent extremely unpalatable situations that Israel were to go through, but which they were not going to experience without Him. He had promised to be part of all their experiences; to uphold and see them through.
Going through extreme difficulties will either cause you to drown or make you grow stronger; if you go through the river or the fire of life in your own strength, you are more likely to be consumed. This is because sometimes, the magnitude of the difficulty may be beyond what all your resources can support, and you get overwhelmed. At this stage, if all that you have is your strength, you are doomed. This is why the promise of God being with you is such a great blessing and you must maximize it.
Knowing He has made this promise and cannot fail in His promises, if you invite Him and hand your life over to Him, He will deliver you. His presence in the water and in the fire makes them harmless for those who trust in Him. He is the creator of both the water and the fire and so they cannot go beyond the boundaries he placed for each of them. He is God, the Almighty. Rejoice that He has promised to be with you always.
Note that since He has said it, He will do it.
Prayer: Acknowledge God’s presence with you and ask Him to take over your life in every situation.
