JANUARY 5: “INTIMACY WITH GOD A MATTER OF TRUST 2”

In building intimacy between any two or more parties, mutual trust is extremely necessary because it is a strong basis for a smooth relationship. Yesterday, we saw how God trusted man with everything He had created and trusted him even with His word. In the same vein, we are also expected to trust God with everything in our lives and even with His word. Psalm 33:4 says that the word of God is right and true; and that He is faithful in all He does. This means that God Himself honours and abides by His word and so we can safely believe that He would do whatever He says.

The Bible recounts times throughout history when God has shown Himself to be loving and trustworthy. Abraham came to know this by personal experience in His walk with God, and we know from the accounts in Genesis that he had an intimate relationship with God and was blessed by it. As a result, he trusted God and it was not too difficult for him to accept to offer his beloved son as a sacrifice to God when God requested it of him. God was so pleased with Abraham’s obedience that He swore to bless him and his descendants in different ways. To show how much he trusted God, Abraham had said to his son, ‘the Lord shall provide for Himself the animal for the sacrifice’, and surely, the Lord did.

If you want to be close to God and have Him stay close to you, you must trust Him and His word. Even in your moment of adversity, He never fails; so, you can trust in His promises because He has succeeded in keeping His word from one generation to another. You can trust in His ability to keep anything you commit into His hands 2 Tim 1:12.

PRAYER: Lord I hereby entrust my life to you again, all that I am and have. Help me to trust you and your word as I seek to walk closer to you this year, Amen.
