Topic: “FEATURES/CHARACTERISTICS OF GODLY INTIMACY: ACCOUNTABILITY IN HOLINESS“
Text: Hebrews 10:24-25
Memory Verse: “Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Hebrews 10:24
True intimacy involves holding one another accountable – not in judgment, but in love. We help each other grow in holiness by checking on, praying, and lovingly challenging one another to live out the Word. This is a very important responsibility for us as a body of believers.
Bro Femi confessed to his fellowship member, Chuks that he was struggling with consistency in prayer. Chuks didn’t just say “I’ll pray for you” or “It is well with you my brother”, he responded practically. Every morning at 6:30 AM, Chuks would call Femi for a 5-minute reminder and short prayer. Over time, that simple routine became the push that made Femi not only stronger spiritually, but also enhanced the Christian love between the two families. This was accountability wrapped in love. When done with grace and humility, accountability protects us from falling away and keeps us focused on Christ.
Walking closely with others in our spiritual journey often means opening our lives to gentle correction and honest support to confront sin together (Ecc 4:9-10). By these shared commitments to live rightly, the strength to overcome sin is magnified.
Practice It: Ask someone to hold you accountable for a spiritual goal this month – and do the same for them.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, please help me not to walk this journey of faith alone. Surround me with people who will tell me the truth in love. Grant me the humility to receive corrections with grace. Help me to be honest about my struggles and faithful in encouraging others toward purity and devotion, in the name of Jesus, Amen.
