July 12: AT HIS COMMAND

Topic: AT HIS COMMAND

Text: Ps 114:3-8; 77:16-20

Memory Verse: “He sends his command to the earth; his word runs swiftly.” Ps 147:15.

The inanimate creation of God recognized the authority of God as the Commander-in-Chief. These handiworks of God respond in obedience and stand in awe of their Creator as we read in the passage. This display of “worship” by the creation is a call to us humans, who are made higher and in the very image of God, to stand in greater awe of God and reverence Him in worshipful obedience.

Observing these creations of God around us is a beautiful way to draw inspiration in our worship and thanksgiving.

The admonition of the seventh stanza of the one hundred and fourteenth Psalm is very instructive: “Tremble o earth at the presence of the Lord at the presence of the God of Jacob”.

God would stop at nothing to care for His own. This is what He displayed as he led the Israel from Egypt. God commanded the works of his hand and they obeyed and served the Israelites. Anytime we enjoyed the blessings of creation, it is a reminder to connect with The Source and a call for thanksgiving and worship of the One who is behind them all.

Our life is not without controls. We must live under God’s instruction and obey his commands if we would fulfil our essence for living. If the inanimate creations of God would recognize the authority of their Maker and respond in obedience, how much more we humans? 2 Cor 5:15 says, “And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.” We must surrender the control of our lives to our Maker if we would truly live. Living for ourselves is death, but living for the Lord is life.

Prayer: Father, I surrender to your leadership and control. Help me fulfil my purpose through worshipful obedience.
