Topic: THE GLORY OF THE CREATOR
Text: Psalms 104
Memory Verse: “May the glory of the Lord endure forever; may the Lord rejoice in his works” – Psalm 104:31.
The writer of the 104th Psalm paints a beautiful picture of God’s wisdom at Creation. He projected how massive and widespread these handiworks of God are in space of the earth and the way they are made glorious and radiate God’s splendour.
He helped us to have a glimpse into how these diverse creatures absolutely depend on God for their survival.
Ps. 104:27- 28 says… “These all look to you, to give them their food at the proper time. When you give it to them, they gather it up; when you open your hand, they are satisfied with good things”.
We cannot agree less. We owe our very existence and survival to God. We can do nothing outside of Him. His power confers on us the ability to live, create and recreate. Gal. 2:20 Apostle Paul affirms that “in Him we live, move and have our being”.
When we lose this consciousness and total dependence on God, we enter into frustration and empty living. Life is only gratifying in the acknowledgement of God as our creator. It is only a fool that says, “there is no God” (psalm 14:1).
The 104th Psalm can be summarized with these admonitions:
1. The need to recognize God’s Supremacy above all. Vs 3, 12. To acknowledge His control over all creatures. (Vs 27-32)
3. To be grateful and praise Him for His benevolence, to enjoy this manifold work of God and wisdom in creation. (Vs 33)
We can draw inspiration by reflecting on the massiveness and beauty of creation. This will further spur us to submit in humble adoration and depend more on the Lord, who is our Owner and creator.
PRAYER: O Lord, I praise you for the opportunity to enjoy the vastness and beauty of your handiwork. May your wisdom reign in me and through me as I live in submission to your will in Jesus’ mighty name.
