JULY 14 “FEATURES/CHARACTERISTICS OF GODLY INTIMACY: RESPECTING DIFFERENCES IN THE BODY”

In our walk with God, we are not expected to be the same in thoughts and actions. It is okay for us to have diverse opinions, come from different tribes and even have different personalities. The Lord has given us these diversities as gifts to prepare us for Kingdom services and to strengthen His Church.

 An issue came up in a Church. The youth section, being tech-savvy wanted electronic bibles on their phones to be an acceptable form of reference during service. The leadership, out of concern however, preferred the printed “Holy” bible. In order to accommodate the youths, the leadership instituted some guard-rails for anyone wanting to use their phone during service. These included measures such as the knowledge of phone-Etiquette, phone-free-moments during worship, knowledge of digital-note-taking, pairing of phone-body for accountability, etc. Over time, these measures helped the majority of youths become more responsible in the use of phones during service.

When we accommodate the unique nature and perspectives of others, we make room for advancing God’s work despite our differences (Rom 12:4-5).  This attitude helps us in overcoming obstacles the enemy places on our path in our shared Christian journey to victory. This approach, promotes unity, our walk with Christ becomes profitable, and God is glorified.

Practice It: This week, with a determination to find a common ground, relate to someone who always seems to see things from a different perspective.

 PRAYER: Lord, help me to appreciate the gifts and perspectives You have placed in others, even when they differ from mine. Teach me to walk in humility and love, honoring you in every engagement, in the name of Jesus, Amen.
