Topic: God’s Presence – God is omnipresent

Text: Reading: Ps. 139:1-12

Memory Verse: “Even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you”. Ps. 139:12 NIV

Presence can be defined as the state or fact of existing or being present. God’s presence can be categorized into three forms.

Firstly, God is omnipresent which also means having the ability to be present in different locations at the same time. This refers to the presence of God everywhere at the same time. His presence is not limited by time or space because He created the universe, “He is before all things and in him all things hold together. Col. 1:17

The prophet Jeremiah (23:23-24) goes on to say that God fills the Heavens and Earth. This amazing truth is because the Lord God created the entire universe and is so much greater than the Heavens and Earth. He fills Heaven with His infinite and eternal glory, majesty, power, dominion, holiness, and love. The Angels in Heaven stand in His presence with awe, worship and rejoicing. Isaiah 6:3 declares that the Seraphims were calling to one another: Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of His glory.

When I was little, I used to play hide and seek with my siblings which entails searching for me everywhere, sometimes to no avail and sometimes they find me if I did not hide the whole of my body well. With the LORD Almighty, we cannot hide.

Is there anything you are hiding from God? This is the time to open to Him. “Yet the LORD longs to be gracious to you; therefore, He will rise up to show you compassion. For the LORD is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for Him! People of Zion, who live in Jerusalem, you will weep no more. How gracious He will be when you cry for help! As soon as He hears, He will answer you. Isaiah 30:18-19.

Prayer: I realize I cannot hide from You, help me to open my life to You so Your presence can overwhelm me in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
