JUNE 14: ASSURED CONFIDENCE

From our text, it is heartwarming to know that Job could speak in such terms of certainty regarding God. Wave after wave of troubles that broke over his head. Heart breaking calamities suddenly robbed him of life’s most tender joy. Loathsome physical disorders made him an object of revulsion, and a burden to himself. Added to these, he was harassed by would-be comforters who were as undiscerning as they were dogmatic. Yet from this tempestuous sea of adversity, there rises up in solemn grandeur this solid rock of unshakeable conviction, “After my skin has been thus destroyed, then from my flesh I shall see God” which is our memory verse.

This is a superlative triumphant outburst. Let disease and death do their worst, the redeemed will always be victorious over death. No matter how many years shall pass, God will still remember his child and want him in His kingdom. Job’s story has given us an insight into the workings of God. Today, many children of God are going through circumstances they do not understand despite their dedication to Jesus Christ. Let us draw courage from Job’s situation as written in Job 2:6. This is a clear indication of the redeemed’s victory over death. The Spirit of God in us belongs to him and to him shall the Spirit return for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Is someone being buffeted by the devil? Are you confused? Is life not what you bargained for? Paul assures us in Romans 8:28, “We know that in everything God works for good with those who love him, who are called according to his purpose”, continue to trust the Lord, the storm of life shall soon be over and finally we will see God. This is our assurance.

PRAYER: My Lord and my God, I am confused and frustrated. I pray that the Holy Spirit will take over my situation and grant me peace and assurance, that all will be well with me, in Jesus’ name. Amen
