Topic: “THE POWER OF CHRIST’S RESURRECTION – 3”
Text: Ephesians 2:1-7
Memory Verse: “And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms with Christ Jesus in order that in the coming ages, he might show us the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed to us in Christ Jesus” – Eph 2:6-7 (NIV).
The resurrection of Christ from the dead is the full manifestation of the essence of His coming into the world. It is a mark of the triumphant transition from the mortal to the immortal, the human to the spiritual, the corrupt to incorruptible and the temporal to eternal life.
When sin entered the world through Adam, man’s original nature as intended by God became corrupted and in dire need of redemption. God, who is full of mercy and grace, devised another plan so that man can be restored into the image in which he was created (Gen 1:26).
Jesus Christ was made the perfect sacrifice for this purpose of restoration, both in His birth, death and resurrection. Each of these events was divinely orchestrated, and only God Himself could bring them into fruition.
There are three important dimensions in which we can view the subject of resurrection in the Scriptures:
- Christ’s resurrection was not an accident of time, but it was designed and divinely orchestrated or ordained: Mk 8:31
- Every believer in Christ has died and has been raised in Him into newness of life: Romans 6:4; Eph 2:6-7
- There will be a resurrection morning at Christ’s second coming: 1Cor 15:55-58; 1These 4:16-17
There is so much we can glean by looking more intently at the significance of Christ’s resurrection and the power thereof, and how we can maximize the blessings of a resurrected life in Christ Jesus. Our appropriate knowledge of Him will redefine not only our perspectives, but will embolden us to develop a more intimate walk with Him and the exercise of our faith in every facet of life.
PRAYER: Thank you, Lord, for the privilege of salvation and being raised up with Christ. Cause us to experience the surpassing riches of our glorious inheritance in you, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
